C&I Engineer (Control and Instrumentation)
Certain Advantage is hiring for an I&C Engineer to join a high-profile energy project in Somerset.
The Company

The Role
This is an excellent opportunity for an Instrumentation & Control Engineer to join a dynamic commissioning team responsible for ensuring that all control and monitoring systems operate safely and effectively. You will be actively involved in preparing, supervising, performing, analysing, and reporting on thousands of commissioning tests that provide evidence of systems’ safety and functional performance.
The role is highly collaborative, requiring regular engagement with multiple technical stakeholders to integrate systems seamlessly into the broader plant design.
Key responsibilities include:
* Designing and integrating control systems, ensuring compliance with engineering methodologies, quality standards, and project tools.
* Developing and updating technical documentation, including operator instructions, HMI specifications, safety and environmental details, and periodic test requirements.
* Writing I&C Functional Requirements and C&I logic diagrams (DFDs).
* Producing and executing Functional Test Procedures, and developing system design documentation.
* Specifying human-machine interfaces such as alarm sheets, control images, and operational modes.
* Analysing input data, design requirements, and lessons learned from other facilities.
* Collaborating with stakeholders across disciplines (layout, civil, safety, environment, procurement, etc.) to ensure technical alignment.
* Promoting good practices, innovation, and continuous improvement in design and documentation quality.
The Individual

* Strong understanding of I&C principles, design platforms, and documentation processes.
* Ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver high-quality outputs under deadlines.
* Excellent communication skills in both written and spoken English.
* A proactive and collaborative approach to stakeholder engagement-both on-site and internationally.
